chorea lucis (2022)

chorea lucis follows the daily dance of light –– revolving, reflecting, refracting, emanating. The piece traces these paths of light into a prayer for hope and strength as we move through the darkness of the unknown.

Text by poet Laurence Bashford. Commissioned and premiered by iSing Silicon Valley. Featuring soprano Estelí Gomez and conductor Jennah Delp Somers on their album love & light.

A peek behind the scenes…

circadian (2022)

The piece is inspired by the circadian cycle, our “body clock” that governs our sleep-wake cycle, body temperature, and general energy throughout the day. These phases are entrained in our body through exposure to (sun)light and, are a physiological manifestation of the ongoing dance between our bodies, our inner lives, and the worlds around us. Our circadian rhythm is a rhythm of renewal. It is the rhythm at which we rest and restore our bodies and its systems. Becoming attuned to this rhythm –– listening to it –– affirms our bodies as our partners and collaborators, not resources to be extracted from or impediments to our success.
